Romantic Comedy Trilogy My Fairytale Wedding Set to Premiere in 2024
Africa Magic, under the Multichoice umbrella, has revealed a Nollywood trilogy titled My Fairytale Wedding, set to debut in 2024. This announcement was made during the 2024 Fame Week Africa.
My Fairytale Wedding is a romantic comedy, presented as a 3-part series, highlighting the distinctive experiences of contemporary African women. It follows the story of a 29-year-old woman who, in her quest for love, turns to the mystical powers of ‘kayanmata,’ a love charm from a wealthy vendor.
Starring Uzor Arukwe and Lilian Esoro, the movie brings to life characters navigating the trials of modern romance, the complexities of relationships, and the intricacies of Nigerian wedding customs. As per the official logline, My Fairytale Wedding “delivers love, laughter and a sprinkle of magic” and provides “a refreshing reimagining of classic fairy tales, infused with African heart and soul, set against the lively backdrop of Lagos, Nigeria.”
Busola Tejumola, head of content and channels at MultiChoice West Africa, described the movie as something new and invigorating.
“In developing and producing My Fairytale Wedding, our goal was to bring something genuine and unique to the screen—something that connects profoundly with our audience while offering a fun, light take on the trials of love in today’s world,” she said.
The movie is mainly filmed in English, complemented by Nigerian local dialects and pidgin English. Directed by Dimeji Ajibola and produced by ChiChi Nworah, the trilogy features a star-studded cast including Ramsey Nouah, Carolina Hutchings, Ini Edo, Kanayo O Kanayo, Daniel Etim, Mercy Eke, Tina Mba, and Ayo Mogaji.
Although filming for the 3-part movie wrapped up in 2022, MultiChoice has not yet provided an official release date for the trilogy.
