Ramsey Nouah’s Tòkunbò Climbs Netflix Charts in Nigeria

Directed by Ramsey Nouah, Tòkunbò marks his third feature film as a director and has successfully secured a spot in Netflix’s Top 10 global Chart for Nigeria.
Nouah, a distinguished Nigerian actor and filmmaker, has an extensive portfolio of films and television series. In 2010, he was honored with the Africa Movie Academy Award (AMAA) for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in The Figurine. He has also featured in several other prominent films, including End of the Wicked, Battle of Love, Power of Love, Blood Sisters, and Merry Men.
His journey into the film industry began in the early 1990s with the soap opera Fortunes. Nouah transitioned into directing with his 2019 debut, the remake of Living in Bondage: Breaking Free, which garnered significant critical praise and won seven awards at the 2020 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Following this success, Nouah directed his second feature, Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story, a modern adaptation of the 1995 classic, Rattlesnake.
His latest directorial work, Tòkunbò, tells the gripping tale of a former car smuggler who is given a tight deadline to deliver the daughter of a government official to her captor, facing severe repercussions if he fails.
The movie plunges viewers into a world of crime and the intense desperation that fuels it.
Produced by Chris Odeh, Tòkunbò boasts an impressive cast, including Gideon Okeke, Chidi Mokeme, Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, Nobert Young, Majid Michael, Adunni Ade, Ivie Okujaye, Tosin Adeyemi, Stanley ‘Funnybone’ Chibunna, Darasimi Nadi, and Aaron Sunday.
Other films making waves on Netflix’s Top 10 chart this week include Something Like Gold, which holds the top position, alongside The Union and House of Ga’a, among others.
