Gideon Okeke stars in Ramsey Nouah’s new thriller, “Tokunbo.”
The movie made its grand debut at a high-profile premiere event in Lagos on Sunday, August 19, 2024, with Amstel Malta as the proud sponsor.
This intense thriller features Okeke alongside an impressive ensemble cast including Chidi Mokeme, Adunni Ade, Ivie Okujaiye, Funlola Aofiyebi, Funny Bone, Majide Michael, Tosin Adeyemi, and Darasimi Nadi. Directed by Nouah, “Tokunbo” is produced by Chris Odey, with Joy Odete serving as both executive producer and co-producer.
With Muhammad Ata handling the cinematography, “Tokunbo” follows the journey of a tough Lagos native who, after years in the car smuggling business, decides to leave that life behind to focus on his family.
He becomes an Uber driver, working tirelessly to save enough money for his young child’s crucial surgery.

His situation takes a drastic turn when Agba, a prominent cryptocurrency trader and a deputy governor at the central bank, presents him with an offer that could resolve all his financial woes—if he agrees to take on one last job.
The task, leveraging his smuggling skills, involves delivering Nike, the kidnapped 12-year-old daughter of the CBN Governor, to the Badagry border within three hours.
This mission unfolds as a city-wide manhunt intensifies, with the Lagos streets swarming with police. Nike’s abduction is a calculated move to prevent the CBN Governor, Folashade, from announcing a new regulation on cryptocurrency, set to be broadcasted nationwide at 7 PM that same evening.
Tokunbo finds himself ensnared in a perilous situation, forced to make a harrowing choice between saving his wife and child or rescuing the daughter of a powerful financial figure.
