Farmer’s Bride Nollywood’s Latest Box Office Hit Grosses N89M In 12 Days
The Nollywood film Farmer’s Bride has achieved significant success, amassing ₦89 million since its debut on September 27, 2024. This movie also claimed the title of the highest-grossing 18-rated Nollywood film during its opening weekend in 2024, ranking as the fourth highest overall for Nollywood releases in the same period. Directed by Adebayo Tijani and Jack’enneth Opukeme, the film’s impressive performance was announced by the producers and distributors, Filmone Entertainment, on October 7, 2024.

Set in the 1980s in Ibadan, Farmer’s Bride follows Odun, a wealthy and solitary farmer, who seeks comfort in marrying a young bride named Funmi. Yet, their marriage faces numerous obstacles as Funmi finds herself unhappy and ultimately enters into a forbidden romance with Odun’s nephew. The repercussions of their choices lead to a gripping narrative filled with themes of love, betrayal, and the supernatural.
Since its release on September 27, 2024, the film features an impressive lineup of actors, including Tobi Bakre (Gangs of Lagos), Gbubemi Ejeye (Far From Home), Femi Branch (House of Gaa), Mercy Aigbe (Ada Omo Mummy), Efe Irele (L.I.F.E), and Wumi Toriola (Aburo).
