The 2024 Sabistation Business Owners Awards, widely known as ‘The Sabies,’ recognized Nigeria’s leading business minds, visionaries, and entrepreneurs.
Awardees came from a range of industries, including Aliko Dangote, who won the Entrepreneur of the Year (Man) award due to his impactful work with Dangote Petroleum Refinery.
Renowned Nollywood actress and businesswoman Funke Akindele received the Entrepreneur of the Year (Woman) honor for her accomplishments in both entertainment and business. Nelly Agbogu, founder of Nellies Nigeria and Naija Brand Chick, was awarded Mentor of the Year for her dedication to supporting and empowering small businesses. GIG Group CEO Chidi Ajaere secured the Innovator of the Year award for his contributions to the logistics and transport industry.
According to Sabistation, the awards ceremony took place in Lagos, spotlighting 110 individuals and organizations for their significant roles in Nigeria’s economy.
The organization stated, “Sabistation Business Owners Awards shine a spotlight on business leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs who are making significant contributions to Nigeria’s economic and social landscape. With a rigorous selection process and a focus on excellence, the awards aim to inspire and encourage future generations of entrepreneurs to pursue success and innovation.”
The event also honored influential figures in the entertainment industry. Michael Ajereh, known as Don Jazzy, received the Social Entrepreneur of the Year award for his initiatives with Mavin Records, Dripsoap Africa, and Jazzy Burger. Comedian Atunyota Akpobome, known as Alibaba, was recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his longstanding impact on Nigerian comedy.
The Sabies acknowledged exceptional businesses across multiple sectors. Babban Gona received the Best Agriculture and Farming award, while Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing earned the Best Automotive Company award.
In finance, Stanbic IBTC Bank was named top institution, with Opay receiving the Best FinTech award.
In technology, Pulse Nigeria took home the Best Digital Media award, while Konga was awarded Best E-Commerce. Reddington Hospital received Best Healthcare Provider, and Nestle Nigeria was recognized as the top company in the consumer goods sector.
The Sabies also acknowledged young entrepreneurs, including filmmaker and YouTuber Tayo Aina, who won Young Entrepreneur of the Year, and PartyJollof Africa founder Peter Ayeni, who received the Start-Up of the Year award.
As noted by the organizers, the award ceremony is held annually on October 22 to celebrate the accomplishments of Nigerian business leaders and inspire the next generation to pursue excellence and innovation.
