Bolanle Austen-Peters Launches Expansive Film Village in Lagos State
Renowned filmmaker and producer Bolanle Austen-Peters has officially launched her expansive 10,000-acre BAP Film Village in Epe, Lagos State.
The 55-year-old creative, who is also the founder and artistic director of BAP Productions, shared this exciting news in a recent update on her verified X account.
Austen-Peters revealed that her latest Netflix film, House of GA’A, was filmed on location at the newly established film village.
She explained that the site originally consisted of a vast area of green space and dense forests, which has since been transformed into a fully functional film village in just a few short months.
Additionally, Austen-Peters noted that the film village is now available for commercial activities, including film production and recreational use.
In her words, “Many have been curious about the location where we filmed House of GA’A. Here it is—the BAP Productions Film Village in Epe. Spanning over 10,000 acres, with rolling hills, huts, and other amenities. Now open for business to filmmakers and for excursions.
“When we first visited, the site was just a large area of greenery and dense forests. I then reached out to Bisola, wanting to give her an opportunity despite her lack of prior experience with such projects. But I saw determination in her.
“She took charge, cleared the area, and began construction. In just a few months, all the structures you see today were erected. This is where we captured the stunning scenes featured in the film. Welcome to the BAP Film Village.”
Austen-Peters now joins the ranks of other notable Nigerian filmmakers like Kunle Afolayan and Ibrahim Chatta, who also own film villages. Kunle Afolayan unveiled his Kunle Afolayan Productions (KAP) Film Village and Resort in Igbojaye, Oke Ogun, Oyo State, in 2022, while Ibrahim Chatta introduced his Africhatta Film Village in Oyo town in 2023.
