Wives on Strike 3: Omoni Oboli Announces The Uprising Release Date
“The Uprising” is the third chapter in the Wives on Strike series, which began with its first release in 2016, followed by a sequel in 2018.
In a recent announcement dated August 22, 2024, Omoni Oboli revealed that her upcoming film, The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3, is set to hit cinemas on October 18, 2024. She wrote;
“Besties we have a date, I’m still processing the intense emotions I felt while making this movie. Be prepared to be on the edge of your seat, mark your calendars, THE UPRISING is coming to cinemas near you from OCTOBER 18. Stay tuned Wives on Strike 3,” the post said.
The Wives on Strike franchise debuted in 2016 and was followed by a highly successful sequel, Wives on Strike: The Revolution in 2018. This satirical film series centers around a group of women who withhold intimacy from their husbands as a form of protest to push for justice for a young girl forced into marriage by her father. Their protest soon evolves into a larger movement against gender-based violence within their community. Despite its comedic tone, the series raises awareness about pressing social issues faced by women.
The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3 weaves a powerful narrative of love, friendship, loss, betrayal, and resilience, focusing on a widow whose world is shattered when her only child is abducted. With the clock ticking, she must face unimaginable challenges to find her child.
Omoni Oboli, who also directs the film, has teamed up with several prominent brands for this project, including UBA Group, GAC Motor, Interswitch Group, Red TV, and BOZ Diamonds, the latter of which she serves as a brand ambassador.
The movie is produced by Dion Vision Films and distributed by Nile Entertainment, marking Nile’s first venture under its distribution wing.
