Kunle Afolayan is coming with Anikulapo Spectre Season 2
Gabriel Afolayan recently disclosed in an interview that Kunle Afolayan’s popular Netflix series, Anikulapo: The Rise of the Sceptre, is gearing up for its second season. Principal photography already commenced this momth August 2024, with the production expected to span approximately two months. The upcoming season will feature scenes shot across various locations, including Ghana.
In an interview, Afolayan mentioned that the production will start in Igbojaiye before moving to Ghana. The announcement comes on the heels of the success of the first season, which premiered on March 1, 2024, exclusively on Netflix.
The series continues to explore Yoruba mythology with a gripping narrative involving themes of power, betrayal, and the supernatural. It stars a talented cast including Sola Sobowale, Kunle Remi, Bimbo Ademoye, and others.
The initial film made a significant impact, topping the Netflix Weekly Global Chart as the most-viewed non-English film and amassing over 8 million viewing hours within 11 days of its release.
Kunle Afolayan’s work has been celebrated for its captivating storytelling and rich portrayal of Nigerian folklore and history, solidifying his status as a prominent filmmaker.
