Jide Awobana Revealed How He Got Featured in Lateef & Mo Bimpe Movie Lisabi
Traveling around the world has always been one of my passions. Whenever I leave the country, it’s not necessarily because I have all the resources at my disposal—it’s more of a vital therapy for my mental well-being, something I consider essential.
I was abroad with my family when my dear friend and MURASI partner, Adebimpe Omooba, who I affectionately call “iyawo ore mi, iyawo Alhaji,” reached out to remind me about a project we had previously discussed, titled “LISABI.”
To be honest, I hadn’t forgotten about it. However, one of the lessons from “my school” that has greatly contributed to my peace of mind and has helped me avoid conflicts with important people is learning “not to have expectations.”
Even if Mo and Lateef had gone ahead with the project without involving me, I would still have been as thrilled as I am now and would have supported it in any way I could. After all, there’s no rule that says I must be part of every project they undertake.
But Bimpe was insistent that I had to be involved in this project, despite some objections from certain quarters (a story for another day). What was supposed to be a two-month break got cut down to just 15 days, and we had to spend extra money to change our tickets. I couldn’t even cry—I had to cancel several plans. My advice: marry a partner who truly understands, loves you, and supports your dreams.
I still can’t quite explain how I managed to get back to Nigeria, travel from Ikeja Airport to Oyo for training, and be the first to arrive at camp. I think I deserve a award for that.
At last, the much-anticipated biopic chronicling the adventures of the Ultimate Egba Warrior farmer, Lisabi, is finally here.
